Internship & Fellowship Program

Based on its model of ABCD (Assets Based Community Development), the Children's Theatre Company pays special attention to the talents/skills of each intern. All interns are encouraged to express specific assets and interests at the onset of their service by submitting their own ‘mission’ statement which also serves to safeguard their learning experience and investment.

Usually two administrative interns are scheduled per day, between the hours of 10:00 to 6:00. The work consists of administrative support including filing, typing, helping with PR and promotional mailings, etc. Arts-education interns assist the Associate Directors and technically skilled interns assist the Technical Director. All production interns are scheduled for rehearsal days and weekends.

The internship program at The Children's Theatre Company is unstructured in the traditional sense, but offers opportunities for interns to become familiar with the administration and creative process of the CTC. Given the community development mission of the CTC, interns are able to contribute greatly to the daily life of the company. The minimum commitment is two full days per week, and one full (three month) season, but some interns volunteer more time. Limited Summer Internship Residency, which includes nearby housing, is available to full time interns. CTC accepts volunteer interns on an ongoing basis throughout the year.

It is important to everyone that the internship be a mutually rewarding experience. Interns are encouraged to make time to observe rehearsals outside of their scheduled time at CTC. Sometimes, relationships that are formed during the internship program continue to evolve into lasting friendships of service and professional relationships with the CTC and its staff.
